Background Dr. Ijieh Sunday Okubor, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Delta, Agbor, Delta State Nigeria, since 2021.
Dr. Ijieh, S. O, holds a doctor of philosophy degree in Economics. His areas of specialization include International Economics, Human Resources and Economic Development. He has peculiar interest in the use of Econometric analytical softwares, like STATA, EViews and Microfit. He lectures Economics. A researcher, and has attended many academic seminars and published several journal articles in addition to contributing to books’ chapters. He has served as external examination moderator as well as staff promotion assessor to sister Colleges.
Prior to his appointment in the University, Dr. Ijieh, S. O, was a Chief Lecturer for six years. He was formerly the Social Science Education Department, Co-Ordinator of the DELSU Degree Programme (2010-2014). While coordinating the Unit, he facilitated the introduction of result computation software still in use in the DELSU Degree Programme of the UNIDEL. He was a member of the Academic Board (2015–2021). He has served in so many committees, among these are: Member, NUC Internal Accreditation Committee (2018); Results Verification Committee (2008-2011); Credentials and Certificate Verification committee (2014-2020); Chairman, School Of Arts and Social Sciences Conference Committee (2018/2019); Chairman, Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Committee (2016); Member, Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Implementation Committee (2017). He was head of the Extra-Mural Unit (2018-2021). At the Departmental level, he was Departmental Secretary (2008-2011) and Examination officer (2003-2007) in addition to other committees.
Currently he is the Acting Head of Department of Economics. He was the Assistant Coordinator in the Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Centre of University (UNIDEL). Also, Dr. S.O Ijieh, is currently, the Faculty of Management and Social Science Representative at the University Admission Board (UAB). Earlier, he has served as the Chairman of the Academic Brief Committee of the University of Delta. He is also member of the UNIDEL Computer Based Test Committee (CBT).
